Why spacing matters
Plant too far apart to save money and you wait an extra year for privacy. Plant too tight and the row chokes itself in year three. We space by the size you buy, not by the size on the tag.
3 gallon, 7 gallon or 15 gallon
3 gallon is the cheapest way to a hedge if you can wait two seasons. 7 gallon is the sweet spot for most yards. 15 gallon reads as a hedge the day we leave.
Water is the whole game
New hedges die from dry weeks, not from bugs. A drip line on the row costs a little on install day and saves the whole hedge in the first summer. We confirm irrigation before we plant.
