Sylvester Palm — Delivered & Installed Price
The diamond-cut trunk palm you see at every upscale entrance in SW Florida — priced delivered and planted, not just dropped in your driveway.
Delivered & planted from $1,935
Phoenix sylvestris
A Sylvester palm is not a plant you throw in the back of a pickup. A field-grown specimen with a cleaned, diamond-cut trunk weighs well over a thousand pounds, and getting it off the truck, into a properly sized hole, plumb, staked, and watered-in is most of what you are actually paying for. That is why we quote Sylvesters as a delivered-and-installed price — the number below is what the palm costs standing in your yard.
Sylvesters earn their price in Cape Coral yards. They are one of the most drought-tolerant palms we sell, handle our sandy soil without complaint, take full sun from day one, and ride out storms far better than a queen palm ever will. Growth is slow — about a foot of trunk a year — which is exactly why buying one already at height beats waiting a decade.

Which Size Should You Buy?
Most residential installs use a specimen in the 6-foot clear-trunk range — big enough to anchor a front entry or circular driveway on day one. Larger field specimens are available seasonally; access matters more than budget on those, so we confirm gate width and overhead lines before quoting anything bigger.
Sylvester Palm Pricing & Planting FAQ
Why is a Sylvester palm more expensive to install than other palms?+
Weight and equipment. A field-grown Sylvester with a diamond-cut trunk runs 1,000+ pounds, so installation takes a skid steer or mini crane, a two- to three-man crew, and proper staking. The installed price covers delivery, equipment, planting, staking, initial watering, and cleanup.
How fast does a Sylvester palm grow?+
Slowly — roughly a foot of trunk per year in SW Florida. That is why buying an established specimen is the norm: you are paying for a decade of growth up front.
Do Sylvester palms handle Cape Coral salt and sandy soil?+
Yes on soil, mostly on salt. Sylvesters thrive in fast-draining sandy soil and are highly drought-tolerant once established. Salt tolerance is moderate — fine on canal lots, but for direct Gulf-front spray we usually steer you to sabal or coconut palms instead.
What maintenance does the diamond-cut trunk need?+
The diamond cut is a one-time grooming of the leaf bases, not a recurring cost. Going forward you only trim dead fronds once or twice a year and keep it on a palm fertilizer schedule. We never recommend over-pruning — it weakens the palm in storms.
