Cape Coral lots are close and the fences are low, so the most requested job we do is a privacy hedge: a row of clusia along the back property line, podocarpus down a side yard, areca palms screening a neighbor's second-story window. Done right, a hedge is a fence that gets better every year. Done wrong, with the wrong plant in the wrong sun or planted too far apart to save money, it is a row of gaps you stare at for three years.
Clusia is our default for Southwest Florida: thick, glossy, salt and drought tolerant, no pests worth mentioning, and it fills fast from a 7 gallon. Podocarpus gives a tighter, more formal hedge and handles partial shade along a north side yard. Areca palms make the tallest, fastest tropical screen for a pool cage or a canal lot. Viburnum and green buttonwood round out the list for tough spots. We steer you off ficus, which the whitefly will find, and off anything that needs more water than your irrigation can deliver.
Spacing is where we earn the fee. Clusia in 7 gallon goes about three feet on center to close in a season; 3 gallon goes two to three feet. Podocarpus goes tighter. We stake the line, dig each hole to the right depth, set the plant at grade, backfill, water in and mulch, and we confirm your irrigation reaches every plant before we leave, because the 30-day warranty on planted material depends on it.

How pricing works
Planted hedge material is priced per plant: 3 gallon $25 each and 7 gallon $50 each, delivered and planted, for the common hedge species (clusia, podocarpus, areca, viburnum). A 60 foot back property line in 7 gallon clusia at three foot spacing is 20 plants, $1,000 planted. Plant orders carry a $500 minimum job, so a short run of 3 gallon is priced to clear that or bundled with other planting. Delivery-only, where we drop the plants and you plant them, is quoted per order.
Larger material (15 gallon and field-grown) for instant screening is quoted per plant. Drip irrigation for the new hedge line, bed edging and rock or mulch are quoted as their own lines. Three gallon clusia is $25 each planted and 7 gallon is $50 each planted. At three foot spacing a 60 foot run is about 20 plants, so a 7 gallon hedge on that run is about $1,000 planted; plant orders carry a $500 minimum. Larger sizes for instant privacy are quoted per plant.
How fast will my hedge fill in?+
Seven gallon clusia at three foot spacing usually closes in one growing season with working irrigation; 3 gallon takes one to two. Areca palms screen fastest. Podocarpus is slower but stays tight and formal. We tell you the honest fill-in time for the size you choose.
What is covered by the 30-day warranty?+
Any plant we planted that fails within 30 days is replaced, as long as it has been watered by working irrigation that reaches it. We check the zone before we plant so that condition is met on day one. Delivery-only plants you install yourself are not covered.
Can you just deliver the plants and I plant them?+
Yes. Every hedge plant we sell can be delivered to your driveway for you to plant, quoted per order with a $500 minimum. Landscape contractors buying for their own installs get the 10% trade discount either way.
